Research on antimicrobial resistance is part of the 10th Congress of European Microbiologists

Catarina Santos-Marques, PhD student in infection prevention and control, attended the 10th Congress of European Microbiologists, that took place in Hamburg, from July 9 to 13 – an event dedicated to showcasing the latest developments in microbiology, including the antimicrobial resistance. Catarina presented two posters with preliminary, but promising results, based on the research work that has been developing, together with Sónia Gonçalves Pereira and Camila Teixeira, at ciTechCare, alongside their international partners.  ‘Spread of multidrug resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in long-term healthcare unit’s environment’, was one of the presented posters, highlighting the relevance of implementing and promoting infection prevention and control

Kamila Rasová visited ciTechCare and shared her research experience

On July 10, ciTechCare received a visit from Kamila Rasová, PhD in Neuroscience, lecturer and research coordinator of the Rehabilitation Department at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, in Czechia. As a physiotherapist, she works in the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the same institution, whose main focus is the rehabilitation of neurological patients (multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal muscular atrophy, etc.), which is also her research field of work. Celiact (TIV) project receives funding from the Beyond Celiac Foundation

Sónia Gonçalves Pereira, PhD MD, was awarded with the Beyond Celiac Foundation Established Investigator Award 2022 to develop the project CeliAct(TIV) – Translocation, Inflammation and Virulence: dissecting mechanisms of gluten-microbiota interactions in Celiac Disease, with a funding of €300,000 for the next 3-years.  With the collaboration of Katri Lindfors, at Celiac Disease Research Center, Tampere University (Finland), and Daniela Cipreste Vaz, as project’s co-principal investigator, CeliAct(TIV) team aims to advance the knowledge on human microbiota contribution to Celiac Disease onset and development by focusing on the mechanisms of gluten-microbiota-immunity interactions.
