Education on infection prevention in 12th grade students

On August 8th, Sónia P. Gonçalves, researcher at ciTechCare, was at Liceu Pedro Nunes, in Lisbon, in an educational session on microbiology and infection prevention, for 12th grade students, promoted by Biology teachers Sara Soares and Maria Emília Carvalho.Students had the opportunity to discuss the topic, and their doubts regarding the challenges of the scientific career, as well as try out some laboratory techniques in microbiology. ciTechCare at the European Respiratory Congress

Joana Cruz, lecturer at the School of Health Sciences, Polytechnic of Leiria, and researcher at ciTechCare, was actively involved in the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress (#ERScongress), with the presentation of two e-posters developed under the OnTRACK project (https://citechcare.ipleiria.pt/ontrack/), and the chairing of two symposia, together with two international experts in the respiratory field. Celiac disease volunteers and their families

The researcher Sónia Gonçalves Pereira, mother of two celiac girls, is looking for celiac volunteers and their direct family (children and adults) to create a biobank of blood and feces samples for a research project that aims to study the influence of genetics and the microbiome on development of this disease. This study will be carried out in partnership with 2 research centers in Finland and the United States of America and has the support of the Portuguese Celiac Association (Associação Portuguesa de Celíacos (APC).
