Rui Fonseca-Pinto was invited to participate in the workshop Villages on Move (VoM) to talk about the MOVIDA.polis project. VoM is an Erasmus + project aiming to share ideas to promote every day physical activity. Collected ideas are developed by means of culture of experimentation, to activate inhabitants in rural areas to have more movement and more joy of sports.
In the last 18th of September, at Évora, the health care and school professional supporting manual entitled “Crianças e Jovens com Diabetes Tipo I na Escola – Manual de Apoio aos Profissionais de Saúde e Educação” was released, together with two videos developed by a joint working group in which ciTechCare researchers Maria dos Anjos Dixe and Eva Menino were included. The researcher Eva Menino is also an author of one chapter of the manual. This initiative aimed to promote health literacy in the school community. The videos were presented by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) supported by the National Diabetes Program integrated on the Health
On May 12 2018, ciTechCare received the visit of Professor Nicholas R. Hardiker from University of Salford, Manchester, UK. He presented Digital eHealth Programmes on 4th IPLeiria International Health Congress. The 4th edition of the IPLeiria International Health Congress took place on May 11th & 12th, 2018, at the School of Health Sciences of Leiria, Polytechnic of Leiria (Leiria) and was subordinated to the “Global health trends“. The visit of Prof. Hardiker was an excellent opportunity to promote scientific cooperation in the area of health sciences between ciTechCare and an international partner and to know ciTechCare.
On February 14 2018, the ciTechCare received the visit of Professor Chris Burtin from the University of Hasselt, Belgium. Professor Burtin is a physiotherapist with a PhD in the field of rehabilitation in patients with chronic respiratory diseases. He is a worldwide recognized researcher in this area with several indexed publications (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Chris_Burtin). Currently, he is a lecturer of the Physiotherapy course and holds a postdoctoral position at the University of Hasselt. He is also a researcher of the Rehabilitation Sciences Research Group (REVAL-BIOMED) of the Department of Medicine and Life Sciences of the same institution. He is also President-elect of
