Last June 23, was the last Campus 5 O’Clock Talk session of this season.The number of participants revealed that, this is a hot and interesting topic which is still evolving and needs to be developed and, according to Catarina Reis, ‘clarified’. This was the third session of this together partnership between ciTechCare and Start up Leiria – Inovação Social and had the higher number of registrations since its start. The speaker, Catarina Reis, is also a researcher from ciTechCare and a blockchain expert who wants to demystify and make easier to understand this theme. Campus 5 O’Clock Talk will come back
Foundation for science and technology celebrated 25 years gathering specialized researchers from several areas between last May 16 and 18. Roberta Frontini and Raúl Antunes, ciTechCare researchers, participated in the ‘Meeting with Science and Technology in Portugal’, presenting the oral communication entitled “We play together, We all play” – a pilot project for promoting inclusion through sport. Both researchers also presented the poster “Mental Health Promotion and physical activity in COVID-19 pandemic context: working in multidisciplinarity”.
Last Campus 5 O’Clock Talk session was led by Maria Guarino and happened yesterday, 28th april. The focus of this meeting was to share up to date information about funding sources, a particularly interesting topic for ciTechCare. “Taking a PhD does not mean we have to use personal finances. Fortunately, we can count on foundations, innovation agencies which fund several projects in different areas”, explained the speaker, coordinator of the Center for Innovative Care and Health Technology.
The 3 days DE-PASS (Determinants of Physical Activities in Settings) Training School April 2022 took place at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA), from 4th to 6th April. Joana Cruz, ciTechCare researcher, participated in this COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) action concerning the “State of the art in physical activity behaviour, data collection, research harmonisation, integrated and federated data analysis across multiple cohorts and countries”. COST actions are an unique model for the researchers to develop ideas and initiatives together, which contributes to an european standardizaton of knowledge about a certain theme. Campus 5 O’Clock Talk sessions are back, almost after 2 years of absence, caused by the pandemic, and the last one was about impact assessment, mainly on social projects, which is not only important, but also a needed reality. Compared to other projects, social programs require special and different assessment models, which does not really mean, less effective. It was a pleasant talk lead by Rui Santos, in a hydrib format, that allowed to share experiences and improve knowledge on this fieldwork.
The second edition of Oncofit – From sports lab to cancer clinic happened last March 18th and 19th, at North Rehabilitation Center. Oncomove and Research and Supportive Care in oncology Association (AICSO) were the organisers of the event whose aim is to promote the discussion about the importance of physical exercise role as a therapeutic approach in oncology. Several articles have been published highlighting the scientific evidence about the benefits of exercise training as supportative intervention in people with this chronic disease. Pedro Machado represented ciTechCare by presenting the poster of the article “Effect of perioperative exercise training on quality
