CV Synopsis

Sónia Santos is a PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and an FCT Research Fellow (FCT Grant 2023.05000.BDANA) at ciTechCare – Center for Innovative Care and Health Technology (UID/05704/2025), where her doctoral research is conducted in collaboration with the Local Health Unit of Leiria. She holds a BSc in Clinical Physiology and an MSc in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. Her research focuses on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), cardiovascular rehabilitation and data-driven phenotyping, aiming to support precision medicine approaches.

Alongside her research, she performs clinical cardiopulmonary diagnostics at the Local Health Unit of Leiria, with particular expertise in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), contributing to both patient assessment and translational research.

She has authored scientific publications, presented her work at national and international scientific meetings, and is actively involved in international multicentre studies and collaborative doctoral research projects.
