Physical activity promotion in COPD

Today is the World COPD Day. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic and progressive respiratory disease manifested by decreased lung function, associated with symptoms such as shortness of breath and reduced exercise tolerance.
To mark this date, we share one of the research projects currently taking place at ciTechCare, the OnTRACK project, which aims to promote physical activity for people with COPD through a mobile application where they can have access to personalized goals adjusted to their condition, with the supervision of a health professional. People with COPD who remain physically active have a better quality of life and a lower risk of respiratory exacerbations and hospitalizations.
The OnTRACK project takes place at the Polytechnic of Leiria, in partnership with the University of Aveiro, and the collaboration of researchers from the McMaster University and the Hasselt University. This project is funded by FEDER and Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-028446).
