Research aiming to develop a mobile platform that enables primary care professionals to customize physicl activity plans for patients with COPD – Research Update Medicine Project/Alfasigma 2019

The four mentors of the project (Dr. André Rainho Dias, Dr. Mariana Coimbra, Dr. Bruno P. Carreira, Prof. Joana Cruz) accompanied by the coordinator of the USF Santiago de Leiria, Dr. Manuel Carvalho.

The research “Online platform for physical activity promotion in patients with COPD in primary care” (Plataforma móvel de promoção da atividade física em pessoas com DPOC nos Cuidados de Saúde Primários) received the scientific award “Bolsa de Inovação Diagnóstica e Terapêutica Update em Medicina / Alfasigma 2019” (Research Update Medicine Project / Alfasigma 2019).
This award will be used to develop a mobile platform that enables primary care professionals to customize the physical activity plans for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and monitor its compliance.
This project results from a partnership between an interdisciplinary team from two institutions, the Santiago Primary Care Unit (USF – Leiria) and the Polytechnic of Leiria.
The project will be led by Dr. Bruno P. Carreira, general practitioner at the USF Santiago and researcher at the Centre for Innovative Care and Health Technology (ciTechCare), and Dr. Joana Cruz, Invited Adjunct Professor at the School of Health Sciences (ESSLei) and Researcher at the ciTechCare, Polytechnic of Leiria.
