Cátia Santos, nurse and researcher at ciTechCare, led the 7th session of the Research Center of the Local Health Unit of the Region of Leiria, on April 9, dedicated to the theme “Mesothelioma in Portugal”.

The researcher has developed several studies on the exposure to asbestos, a carcinogen, and the malignant mesothelioma of the pleura, also pointing out the need to minimize the risks caused by exposure to asbestos, a public health problem.

Other researchers and healthcare professionals were also present at the session, including Salvato Feijó, a pulmonologist, who dedicated some comments to the presentation, analyzing the theme and the reality in Portugal.
