ciTechCare researchers shared scientific knowledge at the 19th Portuguese Congress of Diabetes

CiTechCare was represented in the 19th Portuguese Congress of Diabetes last 16-18 march, at the Algarve Congress Centre, with the participation of Marlene Lages and Nádia Hipólito, both PhD fellows, Maria Gaspar, researcher and Maria Guarino, researcher coordinator of ciTechCare.

The research work entitled “Relationship between phase angle and respiratory symptoms in individuals with (pre-)obesity and normoponderal with diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease” written by Marlene Lages, Sofia Flora, Nádia Hipólito, Maria Guarino and Joana Cruz was presented as a poster.

Besides, Marlene Lages was invited to present a communication about the “Impact of the coexistence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and COPD on body composition, dietary pattern and functional status” and was also moderator of a session about clinical investigation.

The scientific event was organized by the Portuguese Society of Diabetology and awarded several research works with 11 grants and 8 prizes, in the amount of more than 55 thousand euros.

The 19th Portuguese Congress of Diabetes gathered hundreds of professionals and researchers with the purpose of sharing the most recent developed work in the area of diabetes, its diagnosis, therapeutic methods and a vision of the social and economic impact of this metabolic disease.
