ciTechCare marks the Respiratory Care Week with a session on Physical Activity and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in COPD

As part of Respiratory Care Week, an initiative of the American Association for Respiratory Care, taking place from October 19th to 25th, a Science Swing session happened on October 20th at 3:00 p.m.. This session aimed to share ideas and showcase different PhD projects developed in the field of Physical Activity Promotion and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

This event featured several PhD students from ciTechCare working in this area — Nádia Hipólito, Sara Pimenta, Sofia Flora, Rita Santos, and Renato Reis — who presented part of the scientific work they have been carried out in recent years. It also included Maria Gabriela Colucci – a research fellow and PhD student at the Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil), who joined ciTechCare in September and will carry out part of her research here over the next 6 months.

This session was an opportunity to learn about different contexts and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of people with chronic respiratory diseases and supporting healthcare professionals who work with these patients on a daily basis.

The Respiratory Care Week aims to recognize therapists, nurses, pulmonologists, caregivers, and other professionals for their dedication and support in managing chronic respiratory diseases and improving patients’ quality of life, as well as to raise awareness about respiratory conditions and promote respiratory health.
