ciTechCare research was awarded at the 3rd Pediatrics Congress of Hospital da Luz

Rita Novo, Leonel Vieito, Sara Simões Dias, Marlene Lages, Maria Guarino and Cátia Braga-Pontes are co-authors of the study entitled “Sociodemographic factors and feeding behavior of children: a cross-sectional study”, which was awarded with the best poster at the 3rd Congress of Pediatrics of Hospital da Luz, which took place in the auditorium of Hospital da Luz, in Lisbon, on 6 and 7 February.

The awarded work aimed to evaluate the influence of sociodemographic factors, namely the sex of parents and children, the level of education and marital status of parents, on the feeding behavior (FB) of children from 2 to 6 years.

The researchers developed a cross-sectional study with parent/child dyads of children between 2 and 6 years old, attending a kindergarten in the District of Leiria and concluded that parental sociodemographic factors influence the FB of children during childhood. In this study, the impact of parents’ level of education was highlighted, which reinforces the need for specific interventions to promote children’s nutritional health in the long term.
