A próxima sessão terá lugar em Leiria, no Campus 5  do Politécnico de Leiria (Rua de Santo André – Leiria, junto ao Centro Hospital de Leiria), no dia 25 de outubro, pelas 18h00.

A tertúlia será seguida de um jantar social (inscrição prévia, até 23 de outubro, para brightfridays@ipleiria.pt).

Sinopse/ Synopsis:

  • Para esta edição especial das Bright Fridays, e em linha com a recente publicação do regulamento para a criação de spin-offs, a Presidência do Politécnico de Leiria convidou as 4 entidades da região de Leiria ligadas ao empreendedorismo e incubação de novas empresas com origem na academia (de que temos já exemplos de sucesso e aspiramos a mais) para discutirmos em conjunto os desafios associados à criação de uma spin-off a partir de um projeto científico ou artístico.

  • For this special edition, and in line with the recent publication of the spin-off regulation, Polytechnic of Leiria Presidency invited 4 entities from Leiria region linked to entrepreneurship and incubation of new companies originated from academia (of which we already have successful examples and aspire to more) to jointly discuss the challenges of creating a spin-off derived from a scientific or artistic project.

THEME: “Boosting Health and Education… with Art!”

Join another Bright Friday! Free access monthly lecture organizes by Polytechnic of Leiria, where researchers gather to discuss and share science with society.

The next session will take place in Leiria, at the Headquarters of the School Dr. Correia Mateus School, on September 27th, at 17h00.

The event will be followed by a social dinner: registration until September 25th to brightfridays@ipleiria.pt.

Synopsis:

  • By showcasing two recently concluded projects on adolescents health promotion, we will evidence how innovative technologies can be valuable tools for the education process of future generations.
  • We believe other areas of knowledge can also take advantage from these novel technologies, as we hope to clarify and discuss during the session

Theme: Environmental Quality – From Sustainable Mobility to Certification in Tourism

Join another Bright Friday!
The next session, with a round table format, will take place in Peniche, in the Amphitheatre of the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology, on June 28, at 6:00 p.m.

Topics in discussion:

  • The relationship between Tourism, the environment and quality of life;
  • Certifications / eco-labels as a tool for the quality of Tourism;
  • The Blue Flag and its repercussions on the environmental quality of tourist destinations;
  • The different propulsion / fuel systems of vehicles: their impact on air quality (pollutants emitted) – the distinctions between gas oil (diesel – discussion and demystification of many and recent controversies) and gasoline (Otto), natural gas, up to hybrid and electric propulsion;
  • Perspectives of sustainable mobility in the future.

Theme: Urban farms – myth or reality?

Synopsis:

  • Urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA) includes trees managed for fruit and fuelwood production, apart from contributing to urban design, welfare enhancement and biodiversity. Integrated and managed with crops (agroforestry) and small-scale aquaculture, UPA can also be an important contribution to household food security.
  • An intertwined interplay of scientific areas, from arts and design to engineering and environment, socioeconomics and health.

An all in one of what science at Polytechnic of Leiria is and can be!
