The Sociedade Artística Musical de Pousos (SAMP, Leiria), in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, will receive 40.600€ to support a project which aims to improve the quality of life of people with chronic pain (i.e., patients with cancer, depression and other pathologies) using music therapy. The project entitled ‘Music Therapy for people with chronic pain’ (Musicoterapia com Pessoas com Dor Crónica) was one of the 25 projects funded by the Prémio BPI “la Caixa” Solidário 2019. This project was based on a project that is already running but with limited resources. This grant will enable the institution to maintain the project running autonomously for a year, continuously.

The goal of this project is also to spread music therapy throughout the country.

The project includes researchers from ciTechCare, namely Maria dos Anjos Dixe and Maria Guarino.
