CV Synopsis
Marco Lemos (PhD) is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Polytechnic University of Leiria and a principal researcher at MARE, focusing his research on stress physiology and biochemistry, as well as marine biotechnology and the sustainable use of marine resources to provide solutions for the industry. He is the Director of the Community Diagnostic Centre and a former director of the Covid-19 Diagnostic Centre of the Polytechnic of Leiria. He was the Coordinator of FCT R&D Units Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre (MARE-IPLeiria) and Marine Resources Research Group (GIRM), and the Coordinator of CETEMARES building (Marine Sciences R&D, Education, and Knowledge Dissemination Centre). He is on the Executive Board and Guidance Council of Campus do Mar, an international network of excellence, and was the national MARE Biotechnology line coordinator. He is the PI of several national and international projects, including other research centres and the industry (>20M Eur), and supervises over 20 PhD and postdoc researchers. He registered several international patents. He has published three books. He has also written twelve book chapters published and is the author/co-author of over 200 communications in scientific congresses. He has over 150 ISI publications, which are included in several policy documents of organisations, including the European Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the World Health Organisation, and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
