The Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, specifically ciTechCare and CDRSP – the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development, together with the University of Coimbra and the companies BHOUT, the leading entity of this project specialized in automated logistics solutions, and MOLDATA, known for its innovation in precision structures and machining, are the organizations involved in the creation of the MAP02 project – Medication Adherence Platform. This project is funded by the PORTUGAL 2030 program and is currently underway. Its goal is to develop an intelligent medication dispensing system, a medication adherence monitoring platform, and a corresponding data processing application.
MAP02 will bring industry and academia closer together to collectively build an innovative solution using advanced sensors and technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. The solution aims to improve patients’ quality of life, promote autonomy in medication management, and reduce healthcare costs.
In practice, the project’s objective is to facilitate patient monitoring by healthcare professionals, family members, or caregivers, thus contributing to improve therapeutic adherence—especially among the elderly population or individuals with psychomotor needs or other conditions that make self-medication a daily challenge.
The project will last for 36 months and is scheduled to be completed by April 2028.
