CBmeter

A new medical device for screening metabolic diseases

The project aims to develop a prototype of a new medical device to screen metabolic diseases through early detection of carotid bodies chemoreceptor dysfunction. A change in the activity of these receptors appears to be one of the earliest events in the cascade that culminates in hypertension and obesity. There is currently no portable and easy-to-use medical devices to diagnose carotid bodies function. Thus, this project aims to develop such medical device – the CBmeter – through the collaboration and expertise of a multidisciplinary team of academic and industry researchers.
