DisCovEr+
DisCovEr+:The development and optimisation of Covid19 diagnosis as an emergency answer to the pandemic
The pandemic caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which resulted in the declaration of a state of emergency and calamity, entailed several public health measures, among which the massification of COVID-19 diagnosis.
The consciousness of the limitations of the National Health Service (SNS) and the existing laboratories to face the increasing volume of tests motivated the Polytechnic University of Leiria to ensure its mission in the region and country and to establish a Diagnosis Centre for COVID-19 in its facilities in Peniche. This Centre will allow, during the DisCovEr+, to offer the health authorities and other actors the capacity of 81,000 Sars-Cov-2 detection tests, supported molecular analysis protocols developed with alternate methods, adjusted and differentiated reactants and consumables of the actual laboratories, ensuring continuous testing with quality and security.
