Sónia Gonçalves Pereira, researcher at ciTechCare, published an opinion article on February 20 in Jornal de Leiria about the miracle of science and the discrimination that still exists in this area, not only because of gender, but also because of institutions and regions where science is conducted.
Sónia highlights that «The International Women’s Day in Science was recently celebrated. A rising nurse-scientist, for whom I have both respect and admiration, told me that “it is a pity that these days are still needed, and that they criticize us when we leave the children, husband and home to do science”. But it is not only women who still suffer the yoke of discrimination. It also appears that different institutions, and regions, suffer from this scientific-discriminatory yoke.
