The project “Veggies4myHeart” – digital game to promote the consumption of vegetables in preschools – is a joint initiative of the Center for Innovation in Technologies and Health Care (ciTechCare) and GameLab of the Polytechnic of Leiria, whose main objective is to promote the health literacy in the field of cardiovascular disease prevention. The working hypothesis is that the use of digital ludification strategies enables pre-school students to choose healthy foods.
Cátia Pontes is a nutritionist, professor and the main researcher of this finalist project of Viver Saudável Awards 2022.
These awards are an initiative sponsored by FRESENIUS KABI and supported by the Portuguese Nutrition Association (APN), Portuguese Association of Enteric and Parenteral Nutrition (APNEP) and the Federation of Portuguese Agro-Food Industries (FIPA), and the main goal is to recognize the importance of nutrition and the professionals’ role, as promoters of a healthier society.
The candidate projects were evaluated based on 1) originality and innovation; 2) relevance and reasoning; 3) localized target/impact on project population; 4) replicability and transferability and 5) sustainability, with the Veggies4MyHeart project, managing to gather a greater number of votes from the jury in the category “Community Nutrition and Public Health”.
Next november 25, the two winners of this Viver Saudável Awards will be announced, at the Espinho Casino.
