A recent study entitled Physiotherapy Students’ Perceptions of Ageing – Playing narratives as a Pedagogical Innovation” intended to explore the adoption of new perspectives on ageing after the implementation of dynamic narratives in the first graduate year for physiotherapy students. Written by Marlene Rosa, Roberta Frontini (ciTechCare researchers) and Natália Martins, the exploratory qualitative study included 44 physiotherapy students from the School of Health Sciences, Polytechnic of Leiria. ciTechCare received funding for 3 PhD research grants, out of the 7 applications submitted between 1 and 31 March, while the call for Research Grants for PhD 2023, promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) was ongoing. The doctoral projects submitted by researchers Maria João Batalha, Sónia Santos and Susana Lopes, were analyzed, selected and are among the projects that will be funded, all in collaboration with non-academic institutions. Maria Guarino, ciTechCare Coordinator, is part of the Executive Committee of the research center of Leiria Hospital Center. Research on antimicrobial resistance is part of the 10th Congress of European Microbiologists
Catarina Santos-Marques, PhD student in infection prevention and control, attended the 10th Congress of European Microbiologists, that took place in Hamburg, from July 9 to 13 – an event dedicated to showcasing the latest developments in microbiology, including the antimicrobial resistance. Catarina presented two posters with preliminary, but promising results, based on the research work that has been developing, together with Sónia Gonçalves Pereira and Camila Teixeira, at ciTechCare, alongside their international partners. ‘Spread of multidrug resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in long-term healthcare unit’s environment’, was one of the presented posters, highlighting the relevance of implementing and promoting infection prevention and control
