‘Design, health and care’ – a joint initiative of LIDA, ciTechCare and Leiria Hospital Center in Arquivo bookstore

On September 15, the exhibition “Design, Health and Care”, which took place in the Archive Bookstore, gathered researchers, health professionals, representatives of use patients and other guests. The goal was to inform about the SafeTrack project developed among ciTechCare, the Laboratory of Design and Arts (LIDA) and the Leiria Hospital Center (LHC). Sandra Neves, vice-director of LIDA and principal researcher of the project, presented the entire process inherent to the project, from the knowledge sharing between designers, health professionals and representatives of patients, to the final result – a device that can detect critical health states earlier, alerting health professionals

Opening of 3 calls for 12 research fellowships

The Polytechnic of Leiria is now opening applications for (twelve) scientific research fellowship (BI) within the project “MorphoPlay – Playful strategies for assessing morphological knowledge (2022.02585.PTDC)”, financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). MorphoPlay will be a morphological knowledge assessment test for children from the 2ndto the 4th grade of the 1st cycle, with the aim of being applied in the clinical practice of Speech Therapists andeventually in the classroom, by Teachers of the 1st cycle. A recent study entitled Physiotherapy Students’ Perceptions of Ageing – Playing narratives as a Pedagogical Innovation” intended to explore the adoption of new perspectives on ageing after the implementation of dynamic narratives in the first graduate year for physiotherapy students. FCT funds 3 out of 7 applications for PhD studentships submitted by ciTechCare

ciTechCare received funding for 3 PhD research grants, out of the 7 applications submitted between 1 and 31 March, while the call for Research Grants for PhD 2023, promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) was ongoing. The doctoral projects submitted by researchers Maria João Batalha, Sónia Santos and Susana Lopes, were analyzed, selected and are among the projects that will be funded, all in collaboration with non-academic institutions.
