Research on antimicrobial resistance is part of the 10th Congress of European Microbiologists
Catarina Santos-Marques, PhD student in infection prevention and control, attended the 10th Congress of European Microbiologists, that took place in Hamburg, from July 9 to 13 – an event dedicated to showcasing the latest developments in microbiology, including the antimicrobial resistance. Catarina presented two posters with preliminary, but promising results, based on the research work that has been developing, together with Sónia Gonçalves Pereira and Camila Teixeira, at ciTechCare, alongside their international partners. ‘Spread of multidrug resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in long-term healthcare unit’s environment’, was one of the presented posters, highlighting the relevance of implementing and promoting infection prevention and control
Kamila Rasová visited ciTechCare and shared her research experience
On July 10, ciTechCare received a visit from Kamila Rasová, PhD in Neuroscience, lecturer and research coordinator of the Rehabilitation Department at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, in Czechia. As a physiotherapist, she works in the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the same institution, whose main focus is the rehabilitation of neurological patients (multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal muscular atrophy, etc.), which is also her research field of work. Celiact (TIV) project receives funding from the Beyond Celiac Foundation
Sónia Gonçalves Pereira, PhD MD, was awarded with the Beyond Celiac Foundation Established Investigator Award 2022 to develop the project CeliAct(TIV) – Translocation, Inflammation and Virulence: dissecting mechanisms of gluten-microbiota interactions in Celiac Disease, with a funding of €300,000 for the next 3-years. With the collaboration of Katri Lindfors, at Celiac Disease Research Center, Tampere University (Finland), and Daniela Cipreste Vaz, as project’s co-principal investigator, CeliAct(TIV) team aims to advance the knowledge on human microbiota contribution to Celiac Disease onset and development by focusing on the mechanisms of gluten-microbiota-immunity interactions. Researcher is invited to integrate scientific book on intellectual disabilities
Helena Reis, lecturer in Occupational Therapy and researcher, Ph.D., in Child Studies, in the field of Special Education, at ciTechCare, is co-author of the chapter “From Birth to adolescence: Related neurodevelopmental Disorders” that is part of the book entitled “Intellectual Disabilities: Health and Social Care Across the Lifespan”, recently published in Springer. SafeTrack closing session gathers researchers and healthcare professionals at Leiria Hospital Center
The closing session of the SafeTrack Project happened, on June 29, in the auditorium of Leiria Hospital Center. The project started in 2021 and aimed to engage healthcare professionals and patients representatives in the development of a new monitoring system of patients in the context of the Hospital Emergency Service (HES), in order to support healthcare professionals in the early detection of clinical deterioration of several occurrences. Predatory journals and conferences: what are they and how to avoid them? with Dulce Correia
On June 26, ciTechCare received Dulce Correia, librarian in the Documentation services of the Polytechnic of Leiria, its former Director and member of the National Directive Council of the Portuguese Association of Librarians, Archivists and Documentaries (BAD) to raise awareness within the scientific community regarding publications in predatory journals.
