Impact of lockdown on mental and physical health
The ciTechCare researcher João Frade was the author of a study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, entitled ” Impact on the Mental and Physical Health of the Portuguese Population during the COVID-19 Confinement”. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of psychological stress symptoms in the Portuguese population during confinement caused by COVID-19 and the factors that predisposed the individual to manifest these symptoms.The results showed a higher percentage of individuals presenting psychological distress (57.2%), with a higher percentage identified among women (79.0%) and in people with a higher educational level (bachelor’s + master’s and doctorate) (75.8%). Bodyshaming and satisfaction with body image
On September 21, 2021, our researcher Roberta Frontini gave a workshop at Leiria IPL’s School of Education and Social Sciences entitled “Bodyshaming and satisfaction with body image”.This workshop was part of the #BEACTIVE week, a week that intended to celebrate the European week of sport at ESECS. The workshop focused on the importance of understanding and mitigating bodyshaming, a form of aggression that involves criticizing and humiliating others through derogatory and negative comments that relate to physical appearance.

Congress of the Portuguese Radiotherapists
Pedro Machado, PhD student at ciTechCare, was invited to present the “OncoEnergy: Physical exercise manual for people with cancer” at the Portuguese Congress of Radiotherapists, organized by the Portuguese Association of Radiotherapists.Pedro highlighted the benefits of physical exercise in managing the adverse effects of cancer treatment and improving the quality of life of cancer patients. App helps parents of children with autism in activities of daily living
